Bradley Berman is the founder and president of BermanWorks. He writes about cars and the auto industry for The New York Times, Detroit Free Press, Reuters, BusinessWeek Online, Yahoo!Autos and other publications. He frequently appears on, or is quoted, in national media outlets, such as National Public Radio, CBS News, ABC News, CNBC, CBC, and BBC. Mr. Berman is a tireless researcher of the alternative energy car market. He speaks directly to industry insiders and participates as a panelist and moderator at professional conferences. Mr. Berman’s career includes experience as a journalist, entrepreneur, and web producer.

Lindsay Brooke is the senior editor of Automotive Engineering International, the Society of Automotive Engineer’s flagship monthly publication. Mr. Brooke writes about automotive technology for The New York Times, Popular Science, and other publications. He is a juror on the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards. He serves on the Hermance Efficiency Award committee.

Michael Coates is an automotive journalist who writes about cars and trucks for enthusiast magazines, specialty publications, trade journals and websites. Mr. Coates focuses on future fuels and propulsion systems such as hybrids, clean diesels, and hydrogen fuel cells. Mr. Coates is the principal of Mightyomm, a firm specializing in public relations, government relations, media relations and communications strategy in the area of alternative auto technology. He is a contributor to HybridCars.com.

John DeCicco is a senior lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources and Environment, where he teaches and leads research on sustainable transportation energy and climate issues. Previously he was a senior fellow for automotive strategies at the Environmental Defense Fund. He is also the nation’s foremost green car rating expert as the creator of ACEEE’s Green Book and designer of the Yahoo! Autos Green Ratings. Dr. DeCicco serves on the Hermance committee and is collaborating with BermanWorks on the creation of a new consumer-focused vehicle efficiency rating.

John Gartner is editor-in-chief of Matter Network. He has been covering computer, Internet, and sustainable technologies for more than 20 years. He was an editor at Wired News and at TechTV, launched several websites for the TechWeb network, and has written for publications including Inc.com, Wired magazine, and Popular Mechanics. He is also an industry analyst in the area of electric and plug-in hybrid cars for Pike Research. Mr. Gartner collaborates with BermanWorks on industry analysis and is a contributor to PluginCars.com.

John German is a senior fellow and program director for the International Council for Clean Transportation, with primary responsibility for technology innovation and U.S. policy development. Previously, he spent 8 years in powertrain engineering at Chrysler, 13 years doing research and writing regulations for EPA’s Office of Mobile Sources’ laboratory in Ann Arbor, Mich., and 11 years as manager of Environmental and Energy Analyses for American Honda Motor Company. Mr. German serves on the Hermance committee.

Reid (Rusty) Heffner is associate in the transportation practice of Booz Allen Hamilton. Dr. Heffner earned his PhD from the University of California – Davis, Institute of Transportation Studies. His research focuses on consumer response to advanced-technology vehicles, including hybrid-electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles. Dr. Heffner has seven years of experience designing, building, and marketing new technology products. He previously worked at General Motors and Ford. Dr. Heffner is a contributor to HybridCars.com and collaborates with BermanWorks on HybridCars.com’s Hybrid Market Dashboard.

Robert Larsen is director emeritus for Argonne National Laboratory’s Center for Transportation Research (CTR), a group of over 100 scientists and engineers working on a wide range of advanced vehicle and fuel technologies for the U.S. Department of Energy’s transportation technology development programs. He served as director of CTR from 1998 to 2006, where he oversaw researchers working on hybrid electric vehicle powertrains, advanced diesel and sparkignition engines, alternative fuel vehicles and infrastructure technology, and vehicle simulation and energy consumption modeling. Mr. Larsen is on the Hermance Committee.

Dr. Walter S. McManus, an expert on alternative drive powertrains and automotive forecasting, is the head of the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute’s Automotive Analysis Division. Dr. McManus is an economics research and analysis executive with a record of influential research. He is regularly invited to speak to industry, policy, and research organizations. Prior to joining UMTRI, Dr. McManus worked at General Motors where he developed models to forecast vehicle sales and conducted research on new automotive technologies and their impact on society and the environment, the market potential of hybrids and diesel-powered vehicles, and automotive product and brand portfolio strategies. He has also worked as executive director of forecasting and analytics at J.D. Power and Associates. Dr. McManus is a strategic advisor to BermanWorks.

Lonnie Miller is the director of industry analysis at R.L. Polk & Co. In that capacity, Mr. Miller provides actionable findings and recommendations for clients seeking to mitigate risks in auto marketing and market sizing. He helps create new service and product line offerings for automotive audiences. Mr. Miller speaks at client summits and conferences, and has authored numerous reports, market studies and white papers—including several focusing on hybrid and electric vehicles. He collaborates with HybridCars.com on the Hybrid Market Dashboard.

Eric Powers is the founder of Hybridfest Green Drive Expo, the nation’s premier owner-enthusiast event promoting awareness and understanding of hybrid electric automobiles and other vehicles and fuels that can reduce pollution and wean America off its dependence on foreign oil. Powers Productions and BermanWorks are partners for the Bay Area Green Drive Expo.

Chelsea Sexton is a veteran clean transportation and energy advocate; her work on General Motors’ EV1 program was featured in the Sony Pictures Classics film, “Who Killed the Electric Car?”  She continues her work as the Founder of the Lightning Rod Foundation,  and has led the creation of the Automotive X PRIZE, and is a co-founder of Plug In America, the largest consumer-oriented electric drive advocacy organization. Additionally, Chelsea is a Senior Advisor to VantagePoint Venture Partners’ CleanTech practice, and is a Consulting Producer on Chris Paine’s next film, “Revenge of the Electric Car”. Sexton serves as an advisor to PluginCars.com.
